These last few days has been fruitful for the crew here on the Vaughan. We have been aiding the Vulcan further in research and exploration, starting our mission as a science vessel and also letting the crew know that we were no longer going to be on the front-lines of the Klingon war.
We started out by heading to Memory Alpha, the main Vulcan Research and Development site. Here we delivered our earlier findings to one of the officers of science there.
After that was complete, we were hailed by Starfleet and they wanted us to head out to the Delta Volanis sector to deliver some aid. There were systems in that sector in need of medical supplies, provisions and shield generators, so we plotted a course that would take us past Sol to pick up the supplies and hurry out to Delta Volanis. We had almost reached the border of the Vulcan sector when Takerra my tactical officer alerted me of the presence of a Crystalline Lifeform. We tried to hail the lifeform, to no avail and we saw that it started to change it’s course to intercept us.
We pushed our engines to max, and managed to outrun it and warp out before it caught up with us.
A short stop at Sol to restock and pick up the supplies for Delta Volanis and head out.
The flight there was uneventful and we came to the first sector that was in need of aid. Our away-team beamed down with the supplies and it was delivered and distributed. They beamed back and we set our course for the next system. On the way there a small science station hailed us. They were under attack by no less than five Orion battlecruisers, and asked us to help them.
The Federation usually does not take sides in local disputes, but these Orion pirates was known to the Security Office, and we were told to assist the station.
We hailed the pirates, and advised them to disengage the attack, but there was no reply so we entered the system and engaged the prirates.
They were mightier than we suspected, and engineering reported that our ships were failing rapidly and if we did not manage to bring them down soon. We would be the ones floating in space. I ordered Tactical to use all the energy they could spare, and with only 24% hull integrity left we managed to destroy the last of the ships.
The Science facility thanked us for the aid, and offered to help us with our repairs before we head back out.
I was taught back on Vulcan as a boy that one should always see what comes out of a situation and not what one has lost, and this brought better understanding of our ships systems. Tactical is now able to push more power out of our weapons and Engineering has improved our shield capacity.
This concludes this log, and we continue our trek out into the unknown.
